From 911 call to deportation: Mexican woman deported after mental-health episode landed her in jail

A Mexican woman whose family asked Houston police for help during a mental-health episode has been deported after authorities took her to the county jail instead of a hospital.

Reyna González Ortega was deported earlier this month after she was ordered to leave the country by an immigration judge. She was initially held at the Harris County jail in early July after she was charged with assault. She was later transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody because she lacked legal status.
