Houston post office worker accused of stealing contractor’s check worth $44K, records say

Investigators said that a Houston postal worker has been arrested after allegedly stealing a check worth nearly $44,000.

In July 2024, a city official from Woodbranch Village contacted the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office to report a check fraud, investigators said.

Officials stated that the city, north of New Caney, sent a check totaling $44,000 to a contractor for a project within the area. It was later discovered that the check had been altered and deposited into an unknown account after being stolen in transit, according to investigators…
