The corner of Taft Street and Westheimer Road in Montrose may be packed with more than 100 people Sunday who plan to advocate for Houston’s iconic rainbow crosswalks, after the Texas governor ordered the removal of street markings representing “political ideologies.”
The state plans to withhold road funding from cities and counties that don’t remove these markings, Gov. Greg Abbott said earlier this month. The directive includes crosswalks painted with pride flag colors.
