Typhoon Texas cancels Katy Pride event amid safety concerns over threats

HOUSTON — A planned Pride celebration scheduled to take place at Typhoon Texas this weekend has been canceled by the waterpark, which cited safety concerns following threats related to the event.

In a statement released Wednesday, Typhoon Texas said it made the decision “with concern for the safety and security of our guests and staff members,” after receiving what it described as multiple threats. The waterpark did not detail the nature of the threats but said they came through phone calls and from individuals who showed up at the park.
