Just hours after hundreds of residents gathered to protest removal of Montrose’s rainbow crosswalk, a Houston official confirmed that Metro plans to remove the colorful paint Monday morning.
Houston District C Council Member Abbie Kamin said she’d received numerous calls from Montrose residents Sunday evening after heavy equipment had been moved to the area near the crosswalk at Westheimer and Taft. The area was apparently guarded by a significant police presence. Shortly after, Metro told the council member, who represents the Montrose area, that the rainbow paint would be removed Monday morning, she said.
