Abandoned property on 32nd Street gets attention after weeks of complaints

HOUSTON — An Independence Heights homeowner finally got relief this week after Houston city workers cleaned up an overgrown right-of-way and removed illegally dumped trash from an abandoned property on East 32nd Street—more than two weeks after she first contacted KHOU 11 about the neighborhood nuisance.

Bobbie Brockman reached out to the news station after contacting 311 dozens of times about the deteriorating conditions near her home. Following KHOU 11’s inquiries to Houston Public Works and other city departments, crews cleared the overgrown brush and most of the illegally dumped trash, and left a violation notice at the site.
