For two straight years, Lynette Miller tried to get her two children coveted spots at Houston ISD’s popular Mandarin Immersion Magnet School.
But her kids lingered on the waitlist, which stretched into the hundreds.
Tired of limited options, Miller helped create the new Mandarin Immersion School of Houston, a parent-led private elementary school located in Houston’s Chinatown, near the Beltway and Bellaire Boulevard.
