Spring Branch Lot Horror, Person Found Shot Dead In Car

A person was found dead inside a car Friday evening in a parking lot in Houston’s Spring Branch neighborhood near the intersection of Kempwood Drive and Blalock Road. Emergency crews responded and blocked off the area while investigators worked the scene, according to KHOU.

As reported by KHOU, officers discovered the person inside a vehicle in the lot at Kempwood and Blalock, and investigators said the death was caused by a gunshot. KHOU’s on-scene video showed detectives examining the car and police tape surrounding the parking area.

Neighborhood context

The Kempwood and Blalock intersection sits at the center of a busy strip of shops and restaurants, and the stretch has seen violence before. The Houston Chronicle reported a parking-lot shooting in the 9400 block of Kempwood near Blalock in 2010, and managers told reporters then they’d been worried about late-night fights.
