Five of Texas’ ten highest-paid superintendents worked in the Houston area in 2024-25, each earning more than $400,000 in base pay. Add perks like cellphone stipends and district drivers, and their total compensation climbs even higher.
That’s because superintendents’ contracts are often paired with a wide range of benefits, from retention stipends and retirement bonuses to paid phone plans and security details. Taken together, these benefits mean superintendents often take home far more than their base pay suggests.
