HOUSTON — With Thanksgiving days away, one Houston pitmaster is giving back to the neighborhood where he grew up by feeding hundreds for free.
Courtney “CB” Brooks spent Monday evening tending to rows of smokers along Amboy Street in the Fifth Ward, offering plates of brisket, chicken wings, pork chops, turkey, dirty rice, and green beans to anyone who stopped by.
Brooks began hosting the community cookout four years ago as a way to share his gratitude during the holiday season. The event, he said, is funded entirely out of his own pocket…
