Houston has its own holiday trains and buses, and they’re delightful

Houston’s transportation network is, shall we say, bare bones. We have buses, and they’re fine, and we have a light rail, which is great and nice to use if you live anywhere near it. But while other cities (including our neighbors to the north) build out public transit, Houston’s bus and light rail network have stayed pretty much the same for the last decade.

City of Houston officials recently tried to slow down the city’s Red Line, which carries tons of commuters through the Medical Center, Midtown and Downtown before backtracking. Now, perhaps in a show of holiday goodwill, Houston METRO is rolling out very charming and delightful Christmas trains. METRO announced last week that it would be transforming the agency’s Green Line into the “Holiday Express” from Nov. 22 through Dec. 31.
