Late-Night Bellfort Inferno Kills South Houston Driver

A woman in her late 30s was killed Wednesday night when her car crashed and caught fire on Bellfort Avenue near Knight Road, Houston police said. Fire crews extinguished the blaze, but the driver could not be saved.

What Investigators Say Happened

The crash was reported around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators believe the driver was traveling eastbound on Bellfort Avenue at high speed, lost control, and struck a tree in the median. First responders arrived to find the vehicle on fire and extinguished it, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, and the investigation is ongoing, according to FOX 26 Houston.
