Sleeping through danger: Overnight severe weather risk in Houston

Houston could see a low but significant chance of strong-to-severe storms tonight into Sunday morning as a strong front moves through the area. The main line of storms is expected between 10 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday — when most residents will be asleep.

11 p.m. update: Storms have slowed a bit, now going SE at 15mph. 1″ of rain falling in an hours time along the most intense storm cells.

10 p.m. update: The line of storms is on top of our northern counties. We have a flood advisory with 3″ of rain falling in the past hour. (That’s the green box.) There have also been 40 mph winds and pea-sized hail in the white box. It’s moving SE at 25 mph. The leading edge of the strongest storms will be in Conroe at 11 p.m…
