A tragic incident occurred yesterday when a man died from a gunshot wound during an encounter with the Houston Police Department beneath the Hardy Toll Road. According to KHOU, the situation began with a family disturbance call, where the man in question allegedly stole both a vehicle and a pistol from a home.
The family managed to recover the vehicle but not the pistol, and when the police located the suspect near the Crosstimbers area, they found him armed. As the officers approached, the man pointed the pistol at his own head. Assistant Chief Luis Menendez-Sierra described the officers’ efforts to deescalate the situation: “Officers pleaded with him, asked him several times to please put the pistol down, to please not hurt himself,” as mentioned on KHOU.
