New reflective stripes on Houston’s Loop 610 ramps aim to avoid night crashes

Those yellow and white lines popping up on Houston’s highway ramps aren’t just for looks. They’re a new safety measure designed to improve visibility for drivers and help prevent crashes in the dark.

Texas Department of Transportation crews painted long, horizontal yellow and white reflective stripes on concrete barriers along the direct connectors within and around Loop 610. Reflective paint is a safety treatment used by TxDOT on ramp curves for more visibility at night or in bad weather.
