FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — Authorities across the Houston area are once again urging drivers to make smart choices ahead of the New Year’s holiday, saying too many people are still getting behind the wheel after drinking.
In Fort Bend County, officials announced a series of enforcement measures aimed at cracking down on impaired driving as celebrations ramp up.
Fort Bend County announces ‘no refusal weekend’
Officials say Fort Bend County will have a “no refusal weekend” from Wednesday through Sunday. That means drivers suspected of driving while intoxicated will not be able to refuse a blood test, as search warrants will be issued on site.
Authorities also said extra patrols will be out looking for suspected drunk drivers.
