Houston-area plastic surgeon has medical license suspended for allegedly practicing while intoxicated

Dr. Azul Shiraz Jaffer of Sugar Land was criminally indicted in December on a felony charge of performing surgery while intoxicated.

A Sugar Land plastic surgeon had his license suspended by Texas’ medical regulatory board for allegedly practicing medicine while under the influence of alcohol, the board announced Tuesday.

Dr. Azul Shiraz Jaffer, who in December was indicted in Fort Bend County on a criminal charge of performing surgery while intoxicated, is temporarily forbidden from practicing medicine until the Texas Medical Board holds a disciplinary hearing or lifts the suspension. The suspension came down on Dec. 30, 2025.
