HOUSTON — We streamed more than two hours of coverage as abandoned buildings that were part of a north Houston church complex burned on Monday afternoon.
The fire burned along I-45 near Parker and one thing we noticed during our streaming coverage was just how close the fire was to the freeway.
We learned during the stream that this former church complex was actually purchased by the Texas Department of Transportation back on December 3, 2020. We checked back with TxDOT after the stream and they said the six-acre property will be used for the eventual I-45 expansion project. It was vacant and scheduled for demolition, per TxDOT…
