Man, 36, Killed in High-Speed Collision with Tree on North Wayside Drive in Houston

A deadly vehicle crash on North Wayside Drive in Houston has claimed the life of a 36-year-old man early Sunday morning. The City of Houston news release states the incident happened around 3:40 a.m. near the 9300 block, with Houston police still conducting investigations into the cause of the accident.

The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer Z. Alikhan have provided preliminary details. They report that the driver of a red Honda Civic was southbound at a high rate of speed, the vehicle failed to adhere to the traffic lane, eventually veering off the road and colliding with a tree. The force of the impact was such that the Houston Fire Department paramedics, who arrived on the scene, could do little but pronounce the individual deceased.

Identification of the deceased is still underway, pending formal verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. At this point, the exact identity of the individual remains undisclosed as authorities are likely still in the process of next-of-kin notification…
