Southeast Houston neighborhood plagued by nightly gunfire at popular park

HOUSTON — A southeast Houston neighborhood near Almeda Genoa and Blackhawk is experiencing ongoing gunfire problems at a local park. Residents are reporting shots fired nearly every night. Houston police confirm they have received four calls for service regarding discharge of firearms in the area over the past six months.

Charles Kruse, who lives near the park on Windmill Lakes Boulevard, says the situation has escalated from occasional incidents to a nightly occurrence.

“Started with occasional shootings. Lots of target practice what it seems like. Its gotten a lot worse,” Kruse said…
