Houston firefighters reach 99% containment on Addicks Reservoir fire that burned 105 acres

HOUSTON — Houston firefighters have nearly extinguished a fire near Addicks Reservoir that burned approximately 105 acres, with officials reporting the blaze is now 99% contained.

The fire, located just south of Bear Creek Park near Interstate 10 and Eldridge, started as a grass fire Sunday afternoon. Cooler temperatures Monday helped crews gain control of the flames and improved air quality for nearby residents by pushing lingering smoke out of the area.
