Shern-Min Chow is leaving KHOU 11 after nearly three decades on the air

A local TV news staple will soon bid farewell to the Houston airwaves. Shern-Min Chow, who anchors KHOU 11’s daily midday and 4 p.m. newscasts, will leave her position on Feb. 9, 2026, ending a nearly 30-year run at the station.

Chow teased the news on social media with a video announcing she had a “big secret” to share with viewers. On Tuesday, she officially made the announcement and hinted that other plans are already in motion. “There have been some other projects that I wanted to do, but can’t while a full-time employee here. More on that later,” Chow said in the clip.

She thanked viewers for tuning in over the years, as the newsroom expanded from traditional broadcasts into online and social media coverage. “It has been a privilege to meet many of you in person, many of you online, and to share your stories,” she said, encouraging viewers to keep in touch with her on social media, saying she loves hearing from them there…
