Sheldon Fire Department responds to 18-wheeler fire at shopping center along Beltway 8

Sheldon Fire Department crews responded to a fire involving an 18-wheeler Monday morning near Beltway 8 and W Lake Houston Parkway, first responders said.

A spokesperson with the the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office said Sheldon Fire received a call around 8 a.m. about an 18-wheeler that was parked overnight on the side of a shopping center off Beltway 8. The fire agency was able to put the fire out and called the fire marshal to send a hazmat team over, the spokesperson said.

Some diesel did leak, moving toward a ditch, and the hazmat team was able to clear it before a cleanup team arrived, the spokesperson said.
