Coastal Texas school district proposing $95 million bond package for new athletics facilities

Barbers Hill ISD voters in May will get to decide whether to approve a $95 million bond package upgrade the district’s athletics facilities.

The bond, which the school board on Thursday approved to put up for election on May 2nd, would cover the construction and build out of a multipurpose athletic fieldhouse to meet growing population demands, as well as renovations to Eagle Stadium and locker room improvements.

Barbers Hill High School’s fieldhouse opened in 1980 and was fully paid off by 1998. Since then, eight school district bond elections have passed, but most have focused on academic facilities for a total of $378 million in upgrades…
