HOUSTON — Two Houston-area men were convicted in federal court in a murder-for-hire plot that left a Katy man wounded during a shooting on the Grand Parkway, prosecutors said.
A federal jury found Michael Seery, 43, of Katy, and Ricardo Obando Jr., 51, of Houston, guilty after about two days of deliberations following an eight-day trial, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors argued the case was a plot fueled by jealousy, a narrative the jury ultimately accepted.
Authorities said the men planned the attack over several months and carried it out in the early morning hours of Feb. 4, 2025, as the victim was driving to work along the Grand Parkway in northwest Harris County.
