A Pearland man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after he was convicted of fraudulently using dead men’s names to collect more than $4 million in Social Security benefits.
David Lam, 46, pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to steal government funds in June. On Friday, U.S. District Judge Sim Lake sentenced Lam to 84 months in prison and ordered him to pay back $4.1 million to the Small Business Administration and the Social Security Administration, according to court records.
