According to migration data, ruby-throated hummingbirds typically begin moving north from their wintering grounds in late February through early March, with many arriving along the Gulf Coast by around March 1. Peak migration in Texas generally occurs from early March through late May, making this period ideal for spotting hummers around Houston and other Gulf Coast communities.
