Deputies responded to a theft/shoplifting call for service. While attempting to detain the suspect, the individual fled on foot back into the store. After refusing lawful commands, two deputies deployed their department-issued Tasers to safely gain control of the situation and take the suspect into custody.
During the incident, both a deputy and the suspect sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The deputy was treated for a broken hand, while the suspect was treated for a foot injury.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted, and charges of State Jail Felony Theft (with prior convictions) and Resisting Arrest were accepted. The suspect was later cleared by medical staff, arrested, and booked into jail…
