Lane closures planned on SH 288 for CenterPoint Energy upgrades

HOUSTON — Drivers along Texas State Highway 288 should prepare for overnight lane closures this week as CenterPoint Energy works to strengthen Houston’s electric grid.

The utility company, in coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation, will close all north- and southbound main lanes and feeder roads at FM 1462 and Highway 6 for brief, overnight work.

Closure schedule

  • FM 1462: Thursday, Feb. 26, from 10 p.m. to midnight
  • Highway 6: Thursday, Feb. 26, from midnight to 2 a.m. (into Friday, Feb. 27)

Crews will be removing overhead power lines as part of the project. CenterPoint says the work is part of a long-term effort to improve reliability, better serve growing communities, and support Houston’s rapid growth.
