Fatal crash in Sabine Parish claims life of 66-year-old woman

SABINE PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) —  On February 28, 2026, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a crash at the intersection of Louisiana Highways 120 and 175, which claimed the life of 66‑year‑old Kathy Birdwell of Natchitoches.

Shreveport man gets life for crimes against female family minor

Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene at approximately 5:27 p.m. When police arrived, their preliminary investigation found that a 2000 Chevrolet van was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 120 when, for unknown reasons at the time, the driver failed to stop at the intersection. The van left the roadway and struck a ditch embankment.

The restrained driver and two passengers sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local medical facility for treatment.
