How budget-friendly is the food at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo?

To find out, we brought $50 and a healthy appetite to Opening Day to see how much we could eat without breaking the bank.

It’s a festival, so we expected higher-than-normal prices, since festival-goers are a captive audience and vendors have high overhead costs to recoup. And indeed, $5 was the going rate for bottled water, and prices were steep for novelty fair foods (the Dubai chocolate funnel cake fries were tempting, but at $18, we passed)…
