Powerful weekend storm could slam Houston with hail, flooding downpours

Houston’s warm, muggy streak could end with a bang this weekend as forecasters warn severe storms, hail and flooding rains may slam the region Saturday.

Meteorologists say a stalled front moving into Southeast Texas will set the stage for rounds of storms—some of which could turn severe. The threat peaks Saturday afternoon and evening, when forecasters say damaging winds and large hail are possible across the entire Houston region.

“The potential for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will be possible this weekend over the area with a stalling frontal boundary,” forecasters with the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston wrote in their latest outlook.
