Houston man faces multiple charges after assaulting deputies

SHEPHERD, Texas — A Houston man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after allegedly assaulting deputies in San Jacinto County, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office.

In the early morning hours, deputies were conducting a proactive patrol in the Shepherd area when they were flagged down by an individual at the Shepherd Travel Center. The deputies made contact with the man, identified as German Turrubiartes, and discovered he was unlawfully carrying a handgun in his waistband. Deputies noted that Turrubiartes exhibited behavior suggesting he was not in full control of his faculties, raising safety concerns.

Turrubiartes was arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon under Texas Penal Code §46.02 and transported to the San Jacinto County Jail. During processing, he became violent, striking a detention officer in the face and attacking the arresting patrol sergeant, threatening to kill him.
