Launch of Houston’s heavy trash system pushed back

HOUSTON (CW39) – The City of Houston’s Solid Waste Department is delaying the launch of a new system designed to help residents report missed heavy trash pickups.

The system would allow residents to schedule appointments for heavy trash collection, with pickups expected to happen within five working days.

City officials originally planned to roll out the program this week.

However, a Solid Waste spokesperson says the department decided to delay the launch to ensure the necessary infrastructure, technology and staffing are fully in place before the system goes live…
