Cypress Plastics Powerhouse Throws 30th Birthday Bash With Giant New HQ

Drake Plastics, the Cypress-based maker of ultra-high-performance polymer parts, is turning 30 and celebrating the milestone by cutting the ribbon on a sprawling new headquarters next Saturday on its longtime campus northwest of Houston. The grand opening, set for the firm’s site at 14869 Grant Road in Cypress, caps a multi-year expansion of the family-owned operation, according to Community Impact.

In a press release, Drake Plastics described the new headquarters complex as roughly 143,000 square feet on a 45-acre campus and confirmed that construction kicked off with a Nov. 3, 2023 groundbreaking. The expansion keeps the company rooted in Cypress while significantly upgrading its footprint for the next phase of growth.

Local footprint and reach

Drake employs more than 100 professionals and maintains international sales and technical staff in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Taiwan, according to Community Impact. The company supplies stock shapes and precision parts to customers in aerospace, semiconductor, oil and gas and medical fields, work that is supported by dedicated extrusion, molding and machining space at the Cypress campus and detailed in materials on Drake Plastics.

Project cost estimates are sizable no matter how you slice them. Drake’s own announcement pegged the investment at roughly $26 million, while public filings cited by the Houston Chronicle put the price tag closer to $28 million.
