Storms, high winds leave thousands without power across Houston area

A strong cold front passed through the Houston region Sunday evening bringing a line of thunderstorms and intense wind resulting in power outages Monday.

CenterPoint Energy showed nearly 6,000 customers without power, as of 12:30 p.m., on its outage tracking map. The highest concentrations of outages were in the Cypress, Humble and Greenspoint areas. That number was a drop from the more than 8,000 that were without power as of 7:15 a.m.
