Houston bar’s playground sparks neighbor fury over noise, children’s vulgar taunts

A Heights restaurant and bar designed for children to play while parents enjoy a cocktail is wreaking havoc on nearby residents who say the setup is invading their privacy and disrupting daily life.

Residents living behind the Long Weekend, on T.C. Jester Blvd., say the venue’s elevated rope jungle gym and treehouse-style play structure allows children to look directly into their backyards and homes while noise from live music and patrons makes it difficult to work, sleep, or spend time outside.

“We can’t even go outside in our own backyards without feeling like we’re in a zoo,” said Jay Rashad, a longtime Shady Acres resident whose property borders the restaurant. “The kids are looking above us, above the fence line.”…
