Houston woman charged in fatal shooting of two men

HOUSTON, Texas — Charges have been filed against a 21-year-old woman sought in connection with the fatal shooting of two men at a residence on Avenue Q in January 2022.

Elizabeth Rodriguez, 21, is charged with capital murder in the 177th Criminal District Court, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department. Rodriguez is not in custody, and a photo of her is attached to the release. Five other suspects, Victorya Ruby Venegas, 22, Jozalyn Lawrence, 24, Jacob Lee St John, 24, Raul Gallegos, 23, and Damien Vega, 22, are also charged with capital murder in the same court and are in custody. Venegas is in federal custody, and her booking photo is unavailable, while the booking photos of the other four suspects are attached to the release.

The victims have been identified as 41-year-old Juan Ramirez and 37-year-old Apolonio Alvarado. Officers responded to a report of a home invasion at the address and found two males shot and a third male assaulted. All three were transported to an area hospital, where Alvarado was pronounced deceased. Ramirez was in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on June 1, 2023.
