A Houston mother says the Friday afternoon scramble at Gross Elementary in southwest Houston ended in every parent’s nightmare: her two young sons walked off campus with an adult she never authorized to pick them up.
She told local TV the boys were released during the usual end-of-day bustle and left school grounds with the unauthorized adult. The account has put fresh pressure on staff and families to take a hard look at how dismissal is handled and how closely pickup rules are followed.
According to KHOU, the mother said both boys were allowed to leave campus with an adult who was not on her approved pickup list. KHOU published its report Friday.
