Mom-and-pop restaurants are the heart and soul of the South, especially in a sprawling food city like Houston. While we love to celebrate emerging chefs and new restaurants, it’s extra special to honor the stalwarts that have stood the test of time.
This is exactly what Preservation Houston, a non-profit historic preservation organization, is aiming to do with their new program called Savoring History: Houston’s Legacy Restaurants.
“This program celebrates restaurants that have helped define Houston’s identity,” said Jennifer Kapral, executive director of Preservation Houston in a press release. “These establishments are more than businesses.
