HOUSTON — A suspect has been charged in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Fort Bend County deputy — and investigators are now revealing how a case with no initial leads came together.
Deputy Kenneth Lewis was killed after stopping to help stranded drivers along the Katy Freeway, a moment authorities say reflects the service and sacrifice of law enforcement.
What happened the night of the crash
According to investigators, Lewis was driving home from an extra job around 3 a.m. on February 21 when he came upon two stranded motorists along the Katy Freeway near Eldridge.
