Houston shuts down popular Northside bar Rabbit’s Got the Gun. Here’s what we know.

For three years, Rabbit’s Got the Gun, a Northside bar, attracted neighbors with free crawfish. On Friday, however, it was ordered closed by the city of Houston as it prepared for another giveaway.

Promoted throughout March, the seasonal crawfish giveaways began in 2024 when brothers and owners Nathan Aguirre and Ian Ramirez turned an accidental surplus of mudbugs from their own boil into something to share with customers. But as they geared up for another giveaway Friday, health inspectors and police officers arrived.
