Sprawling 4,700-acre development south of Houston opens first phase

A sprawling 4,700-acre city in the making south of Houston has reportedly opened its first phase, tapping into the growing demand for walkable neighborhoods in Fort Bend County.

Austin Point, located at 4805 North Star Trail in Richmond, celebrated the grand opening of its community center Saturday, inviting prospective residents to tour 12 model homes and explore what’s finished, according to a Facebook post advertising the event.

So far, 20 families have moved into the community, with 67 total home sales, according to the Houston Chronicle, which originally reported the news of Austin Point’s growth. Approximately 120 homes of the 421-home first phase have been built, in addition to the community center known as The 1824.
