Three Houston men are charged after a burglary early Friday morning at a Brenham grocery store.
Around 3:45 a.m., members of the Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Blinn College Police Department and Washington County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Brookshire Brothers at 303 North Austin Parkway.
A release from the Brenham Police Department states that multiple individuals were observed attempting to flee the scene, but responding units were able to detain several suspects without incident.
According to police, their preliminary investigation determined that the suspects had forcibly entered the business by cutting a lock and subsequently attempted to access an ATM inside the store.
During the response, the Brenham Police K9 unit successfully located and recovered a saw that is believed to have been used in the commission of the act and discarded during the suspects’ attempted escape. Upon searching the involved vehicles, police reported finding tools and equipment consistent with what is commonly used in burglary offenses.
