The city of Houston called Good Friday a ‘Spring Holiday.’ Conservatives are outraged.

The city of Houston deleted a social media post on X referring to Good Friday as a “Spring Holiday” after it sparked a backlash from conservative elected officials and influencers.

The post, which is still on Instagram, announced that city offices will be closed Friday, drawing ire from those who saw it as a refusal to acknowledge the importance of Good Friday and also Easter Sunday, the most important holy day of the year for Christians.

“It’s a time when Christians across the nation reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” wrote U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Richmond, denouncing the city’s phrasing. “The City of Houston should be ashamed.”…
