Thousands of homes, new healthcare district planned for this booming Houston-area suburb

Two master-planned communities are expanding in New Caney as developers tap into growing demand for housing and healthcare in the area northeast of Houston.

The projects are expected to add thousands of single-family homes, along with a 328-acre healthcare district in Valley Ranch. While New Caney had about 37,600 residents in 2024, that represents an 80% increase from a decade earlier, according to the latest estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
