First-ever nonstop flight from Rome to Houston lands at Bush Airport ahead of World Cup

HOUSTON — The first-ever nonstop flight between Rome and Houston has landed.

Italian-based carrier ITA Airways launched the route from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport (FCO) on May 1. The inaugural 10-hour flight was greeted with a water arch salute from the Houston Fire Department and a gate-side celebration.
