Longtime Houston ISD principal wins H-E-B educator award

A longtime Houston ISD principal won an H-E-B Excellence in Education Award on Sunday in downtown Houston.

Milby High School’s Ruth Peña won the Secondary Principal Award, one of 14 awards given to educators and education groups from across Texas. She won $10,000 in cash for herself and a $25,000 grant for the East End high school. Ten Houston-area educators were among 50 teacher, principal and counselor finalists.
