Things to this weekend: ‘Pageant of the Masters’ holds still in Laguna Beach

Pageant of the Masters: Nearly a century along, this stand-very-very-still stage spectacular still possesses panache and a surplus of forward momentum. Happening nightly for two months, the Laguna Beach “tableaux vivant” tradition finds performers staying statue-like inside cleverly rendered oversized artworks. “The Greatest of All Time” is the bigger-than-big 2026 theme, and the schedule is big, too: The pageant begins July 9 and concludes Sept. 4.

FIFA World Cup Fan Zones: Riveting matches are on the horizon as eight teams square off in the World Cup quarterfinals. A free festival celebrating the games, the fandoms, and the excitement are headed to Whittier Narrows from July 9-11 while a ticketed happening is popping up in Venice Beach on July 10 and 11. Tunes, activities, food for sale, and fundom for the fandoms await.
