Long Beach is taking a new approach to improving road safety with the launch of a citywide speed camera system designed to encourage drivers to slow down.
The program is being introduced after the city recorded its highest number of traffic deaths in more than a decade last year. City officials hope the new technology will encourage safer driving and reduce serious traffic incidents in areas where speeding and collisions have been concerns.
